Kat Zhou is a nature photographer based in San Francisco, California who specializes in underwater, landscape, and wildlife photography. She's particularly drawn to the underwater realm for its uniqueness and vibrance, and her portfolio reflects a deep affinity for wildlife, education, and conservation. Her work has been featured in numerous competitions and publications worldwide, and she's passionate about capturing and raising awareness on often-overlooked species and destinations. She was named Underwater Photographer of the Year 2023 and awarded "Best in Show" in Ocean Art 2022, becoming the first woman to earn this designation, and she's also received category wins and gold placements across major competitions including Bird Photographer of the Year, Big Picture Natural World Competition, and National Wildlife Photo Contest. She hopes that, through photography, she can encourage a deeper appreciation for the diversity of our world.

Her other interests include cats, hiking, fine dining, craft cocktails, meowing at cats, dancing crazily to 200+ BPM music, aesthetically pleasing bathtubs, hugging cats, and dismantling the heteropatriarchy 🏳️‍🌈
